Fund VII FAQs
Foreign Currency Pension Contributions
The RSA Fund VII (Foreign Currency Fund) is a USD-denominated Retirement Savings Account (RSA) fund that allows eligible contributors to make and hold pension contributions in foreign currency (USD), ensuring capital preservation, competitive returns, and long-term value in hard currency.
It expands the scope of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) by capturing Nigerians in the diaspora, expatriate workers, and Nigerians earning in foreign currency, thereby enhancing inclusion and deepening foreign inflows into the Nigerian pension industry.
Fund VII is open to:
- Nigerians living and working abroad (diaspora)
- Nigerians working for international organizations who earn income in foreign currency
The Fund was created to:
- Protect contributors from foreign exchange volatility by allowing them to save in hard currency
- Provide a regulated and transparent investment channel for Nigerians earning abroad or in foreign currencies
- Encourage diaspora participation in the Nigerian pension system under PenCom's supervision
- Contributions are made in USD, into a dedicated Fund VII account managed by Access ARM Pensions
- The funds are invested in approved foreign currency–denominated assets in line with PenCom's investment guidelines
- Returns are earned and retained in the same currency
- Contributors have contingent access for up to 60% of the contributions
- At retirement or upon withdrawal, contributors can choose to retain their savings in foreign currency or convert to naira at prevailing market rates
Yes. RSA Fund VII is fully regulated by the National Pension Commission (PenCom), just like all other pension funds in Nigeria.
