What is the DRE?

Regulatory Compliance for All RSA Holders

The Data Recapture Exercise (DRE) is a regulatory requirement introduced by the National Pension Commission (PenCom). It requires all RSA holders to review, update, and confirm their personal records with their Pension Fund Administrator (PFA), in line with PenCom's Revised Guidelines for RSA Registration.

NIN Requirement

Your NIN is Required to Complete the DRE

A key requirement for completing the DRE is possession of a National Identity Number (NIN). Your NIN enables verification and alignment of your RSA records with data maintained by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC). Where discrepancies exist, completion of the DRE may be delayed until records are reconciled.

About the PENCAP Self-Service Platform

To make the DRE process more accessible, PenCom introduced PENCAP — a self-service platform that allows contributors to complete the Data Recapture Exercise remotely, without visiting a PFA branch. Through the platform, RSA holders can update their information, upload required documentation, and complete biometric verification.

Information submitted through the PENCAP portal is validated against the NIMC database and subsequently updated on PenCom's Enhanced Contributor Registration System (ECRS) — the central database used by PenCom to maintain accurate contributor records, ensuring seamless processing of pension contributions and retirement benefits.
